rubbish

rubbish was a collaborative work between photographer, Stephen Norman Young, and me andhighlighted a rubbish situation that was happening in Edinburgh at the time of the project in 2018. rubbish was created to become an archive of daily life on the iconic Stead’s Place, Leith Walk. There was then a proposed demolition of the entire red sandstone block from the 1930s, to be replaced by modern 7-storey buildings. A community was being made homeless, being moved on. The block has since been saved and Stead’s Place still stands proudly today.

rubbish featured a series of posters that appeared throughout the city, a photography and print design exhibition during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2018, and two rubbish books published and launched to accompany the show.

All design and publishing for rubbish was carried out by me.
